How to Install Snak IRC Program for Mac OS X

Snak is a free Internet Relay Chat or IRC client for Mac OS X. You can download and install this easy, free IRC client and have it running in less than 5 minutes if you have a fast Internet connection. If your Internet connection is slow, the download takes longer, but installation is still fast and easy.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy
Step1
Download the latest version of Snak from the Snak website by left-clicking on the blue "Download" button. If your computer asks you what to do with the file, click on the "Save" or "Save file" button.
Step2
Locate the Snak program (stored as"snak.dmg") on your computer. If it's not on your desktop, click the Finder icon in your Dock. Press Apple-F or select "File" then "Find" from your pulldown menu. Type "Snak" into the "Search for:" Window. This locates Snak on your computer.
Step3
Double-click on the snak.dmg icon to open the Snak install window.
Step4
Select "File" and "New Finder Window" on your pulldown menu.
Step5
Click and drag to move the Snak smiley-face icon from the Snak install window to "Applications" in the new finder window you just opened. Release the mouse button. Your computer may need a few seconds to copy the file. Snak is now installed.

Tips & Warnings

  • To run Snak, click the Finder icon in your Dock. Open the Applications folder by double clicking it, then double click the Snak icon to run it. Or you can drag Snak from the Applications folder to the Dock and run it from there.
  • Snak is a free program, but your sessions will be limited to 15 minutes in length 30 days after you start using it. You can pay a fee to remove the time limit.
