Things You'll Need:
- Scrap paper
- Quilt fabric
- Scissors
- Sewing machine

Step 1
Grab a sheet of 8 1/2-by-11-inch, plain white, copy paper. Fold it into the 8 1/2-inch edge, cut off the excess strip and throw it away. Cut down the diagonal line in the middle of your square and you're left with a triangle.

Fold the triangle in half along the longest edge of the paper. Unfold the paper and use a ruler and measure 2 3/4 inches from the fold line you created. Draw a line at this measurement.

Measure a 1/4 inch down from the fold you made. Connect the two lines with your ruler and make another line. You'll cut along this line.

Take your triangle template and fold it in half. Cut along the line you just made and open the entire paper up. This is your kite background template.

Trace your template on as many pieces of fabric as you can, depending on how big of a quilt you're making, and cut the pieces out. Cut kite pieces out of paper, as well.

Put the fabric on top of your kite piece and, using a small stitch, feed it through your sewing machine. Sew the fabric onto the paper with the right side of the fabric touching the paper.

Feed in the second piece of fabric and paper, keeping the thread connected to the first kite piece. Continue sewing the triangles together in this way.

Step 3
Use a pair of scissors to trim the triangles and make them look less bedraggled. After you've trimmed the triangle, pull off the paper kite pieces so you're left with the fabric triangles all sown together.

Step 4
Place the blocks of triangles together to make a square. The spiderweb circle will appear inside the square when lined up correctly.

Make as many squares as you'd like, depending on how big you want your quilt to be.
