Step 1
Learn the basics first. You need to be able to do an Ollie with ease, as well as kick up on trick boxes and ride a pipe. Once you've mastered the basic moves, you can begin to entertain the idea of creating a new ride.
-
Step 2
Build a better ramp. Try piecing together ramps in shapes that are out of the ordinary. Start at the top of one ramp, do a trick, and then move directly to another ramp below that one and ride sideways until you reach yet another ramp, where you can end with a backwards stall. The combination of turns and tricks is the new ride.
-
Step 3
Practice all the time and when you feel the urge to try something different, remember how you did it and try to recreate the ride. Many new rides are discovered by accident and if the skater is smart, he will try to repeat a certain ride and give it a name. Teach others and post it on your website.

Step 4
Watch the experts skate and picture another piece added onto their routine. When you go to try this yourself, make sure to wear all your protective gear because every time you try something new on a skateboard, you can expect to fall.
