1
Use a screwdriver to remove any existing hardware from the computer casing. Some of the materials in the computer may be hazardous or sharp, so be careful when removing the hardware and dispose of it properly.
-
2
Line the inside of the box with cardboard, construction paper or thin plywood to create a smooth surface for any of the sides that are not complete after removing the hardware.

3
Use the existing expansion slots in the computer casing to build shelves for your jewelry case. Construct shallow boxes the size of a disc drive using paper, cardboard or thin wood and set them on the shelves already inside the tower.
-
4
Decorate the inside and outside of the recycled computer to transform it into a jewelry box. Pick a color scheme and use fabric, construction paper, beads, buttons, feathers and whatever other craft items you like to decorate.
-
5
Use hardware scraps to make some unique jewelry to go inside your jewelry box. Chips, nuts and bolts are all safe to use, but watch out for places where hardware has been joined and the materials may include lead and other hazardous metals.

Tips & Warnings
Use a small computer tower for the best jewelry box size. Recycled computers can be very large and unmanageable, but if the computer is too small or not a tower you may not be able to get as much utility out of the casing.
Remember that if you're using a metal casing, the casing will be magnetic, so you can incorporate magnetic decorations and hangers into your jewelry box design.
Start with the computer case only. Don't touch the materials inside the computer to avoid coming in contact with any hazardous items.
