1
Purchase Adobe Distiller and upload to your computer. Install according to the manufacturers instructions.
-
2
Make sure you have Adobe Reader or Adobe Acrobat on your computer. If you have neither, download the latest version of Adobe Reader from the Adobe website. Open the document. Use the program you would normally use to view the document.
-
-
3
Open "Page Setup." Take any steps you would normally take to print a document on your computer such as choosing color or grayscale options. In order to maximize the document size, change the dimensions of the paper to a larger size like 11" x 17" or a custom paper size.
-
4
Go to "File" and then select "Print." You will not actually be printing a document, when you print, you will be given a "Save as" window. For Adobe Distiller, you have to go through the print option menus to convert the "print image" of the document, not the original file, through Distiller.
-
5
Choose "Adobe Distiller" from your list of printers. Instead of saying "Adobe Distiller" it may also say "Adobe PDF" in your printer list of printers depending on how you set up Adobe Distiller when you installed it onto your computer.
-
6
Select "Print." A window will pop up that will give you the option to save your PDF file. Choose "Save" once you have specified a location and file title. Again, you are not actually printing the file at all. Adobe Distiller extracts the "print image" of the file to convert it, and you need to transfer the information via your print option menu.
-
7
Save your original document and then close the original program. Locate your new PDF file and open it. Scroll all the way through the document to ensure that the document was converted into a PDF successfully.
