Microsoft Flight Simulator is an exciting game to play and offers the opportunity to learn about flight and airport control. One of the many fun features offered in this game is building a model airport for use in the game. Read on to learn how to model an airport for Microsoft Flight Simulator.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Research different airports around the nation and world and decide on the airport you wish to recreate. If possible, obtain some diagrams about them for more realistic features, airport security may not allow this, though you are not interested in the interior of the airport, only the outside set up. Instead, get a satellite image, this can be obtained using Google Maps.

  2. Step 2

Search through the Microsoft Flight Simulator database for pre-made items you can use, such as trees, lighting poles and parking lots. Also look into making the customized objects you need, which may include toll booths or special buildings. Make sure they are correctly scaled for realism.

  3. Step 3

Create apron textures using layering and determine the airport's correct position in the game. Start placing the items you selected and built in the airport plan. This will take some playing around, time and patience to get things looking just right. Refer to the images you have of the actual airport you are modeling.

  4. Step 4

Add final details with the default Microsoft objects, such as cars, trees, people and such. For a full listing of objects available or how to access the objects, read your Microsoft Flight Simulator manual. Test the airport scenery within Flight Simulator.
