Ninjas are seen as cool stealthy warriors, especially adept at the craft of disguise. But they also have a standard uniform. Ninja uniforms can cost a lot of money. Making ninja mittens from an old t-shirt is a fun and easy way to start making your own ninja uniform.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Long sleeve t-shirt or other fabric
  • Sewing machine or needle and thread
  • Sewing pins
  • Optional decorations
  1. Step 1

Cut the sleeves off a long-sleeve t-shirt. Cut open the seams and lay fabric flat.

  2. Step 2

Lay your forearm across the fabric and measure how much fabric you need to wrap all the way around your forearm. Allow several inches extra for sewing and pinning then cut away the extra fabric. Wrap the fabric around your arm again and decide how far up your arm you want it to go. Your mittens should reach from the base of your fingers to at least cover your wrist, but some people like them longer. Cut the fabric accordingly.

  3. Step 3

Add decorations like stripes, ninja stars or skulls and crossbones. Cut them out, pin them in place and sew them on to your ninja mitten fabric

  4. Step 4

Wrap the decorated fabric around your arm wrong side out. Have a friend help you pin it snugly in place.

  5. Step 5

Remove the pinned wraps and sew. Turn right side out.

  6. Step 6

Cut a small slit for your thumb in each mitten, a couple of inches from the top.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you don't have a long sleeve t-shirt to cut up, buy fabric remnants from the craft store.
  • Using stretchy fabric helps your ninja mittens to fit better.
  • Ninjas wear more than black. Experiment with different colors and decorations for your ninja mittens. Remember, ninjas were masters of blending in.
  • Be careful when pinning the fabric to fit your arm. It's easy to pin yourself by mistake.
