How to Create a Massing Map in Starcraft

Starcraft is a futuristic world where players control either Humans, Protoss or Zerg and fight each other for dominance in a real-time strategy setting. The game allows Starcraft players to make their own custom maps ranging from scenario missions to short role-playing games. One popular type of map players create are massing maps.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Start up the Starcraft Campaign Editor. Go to "File" and click on "New" to make a fresh map. Then, select the dimension of the map you want.

  2. Step 2

    Create locations by right-clicking on your mouse, selecting "Layer" and choosing "Locations" to place down player bases. You can name them anything you want.

  3. Step 3

    Open the Triggers menu and delete all current triggers. Click the "Create New Trigger" option from the Triggers menu, then the player.

  4. Step 4

    Choose "Kill Units" from the menu, then choose "Current Player kills at least zero of any unit" for the trigger. Then create another "Kill Units" trigger and specify a number for the "Current Player kills at most" trigger.

  5. Step 5

    Click "Next," then make a "Create Units" trigger. Select which unit to continue spawning, then choose a location where you want this unit to spawn. Then click on "Preserve Trigger" to save it.

  6. Step 6

    Repeat Steps 2 through 5 for the number of levels you want for your Starcraft massing map. Then, create a leader board to keep track of players' killing progress.

  7. Step 7

    Save the massing map. Log online with Starcraft and upload the game online or through the company game server.
