Step 1
Choose a baby stroller that's stable. You'll want a stroller with wide wheels if you're going to be hiking with your stroller and one that won't tip over if you add weight to either end.
-
Step 2
Look at the handles. You'll want handles appropriate for your height or handles that adjust if you're short or tall. You'll want them to be comfortable and not cause blisters if you're pushing a stroller for a long time.
-
Step 3
Check how the stroller handles. There's nothing more frustrating than a stroller that doesn't turn tight corners, especially in stores or in crowded conditions.
-
Step 4
Think about getting a double stroller if you're expecting multiples or siblings close in age. However, double strollers are wider or longer than single strollers and don't handle as well.
-
Step 5
Figure out what you're going to be using the stroller for. If you want a stroller for running, you want a jogging stroller with a hand-brake and strong tires. If you travel a lot or want a stroller for shopping, you'll want a lightweight stroller that folds easily and is easy to carry.
-
Step 6
Reflect upon getting a stroller that includes your infant car seat. The car seat snaps into a base in the car and then can snap onto your stroller. Once your baby outgrows the car seat, the stroller converts to a typical stroller. Some baby manufacturers call these strollers travel systems.
-
Step 7
Get a stroller with appropriate harnesses. You'll want a stroller with a five-point harness to prevent accidents and your child getting out of the stroller.
