How to beat the casino is an interesting title for this article, considering in the long run the odds always favor the casino. The trick as a gambler is choosing the games that have the lowest house advantage on the odds. The smaller the advantage for the house, the more likely you are to have an advantage in the short run. In the end, over the long run, there is not a casino game that favors the player. How To Beat The Casino

  1. Step 1

Read a book on basic blackjack strategy. Blackjack is a game where, when played perfectly, using perfect basic strategy, you can reduce the casino's advantage to less than one percent. Any time the casino has an advantage that low, as a player you can come out ahead in the short run.

  2. Step 2

Play craps when visiting a casino. Craps is another game where, if you bet on the pass line and take odds on your pass bet after the initial roll, the casino's advantage is less than one percent. The trick with craps is that you must find a casino that allows you to bet 100 times odds to reduce the casino advantage to this percentage. This means that you bet 100 times the amount you bet on the pass line for your odds bet. The only casinos that allow this in Las Vegas are located in the older downtown area.

  3. Step 3

Play video poker when at the casino. This is another game that you should read up on before playing. You should purchase a book with basic strategy in it. In general, you will always be trying to draw for the big hands. If you continuously play for pairs and three of a kind you will end up losing more than you win. The issue with this is that it can take quite a long time before you hit your big hand and come out ahead. This brings us to bankroll issues.

  4. Step 4

Arrive at the gambling table with sufficient funds. To actually reduce the casino's advantage below one percent and to have a chance to beat the casino, you must have a large bankroll. Remember, in craps you need to make 100 times your initial pass bet to reduce the house advantage. This is why many players lose in casinos. They choose the right game, but don't have the proper bankroll to remain at the table long enough to reduce the casino's advantage substantially.

  5. Step 5

Know when to walk away. This is another downfall of many gamblers. They are not willing to accept small to moderate wins against the casino. They are under the wrong impression that their short term advantage can develop into a long term advantage over the casino. Remember, every casino game favors the casino. The longer you play, the more likely you are going to lose.

Tips & Warnings
  • Set a goal for your winnings and when you reach that walk away from the table.
  • Only bring a certain amount of money with you to the table. Do not buy additional chips. This will help you manage your bankroll for your entire trip so you aren't out of money before your vacation is halfway over.
