Add flavor to everyday pancakes.
Add flavor to everyday pancakes.

Everyone knows that pancake mixes are easy to prepare. All you do is add a bit of water and stir. These mixes can be a bit bland though. Thankfully there are ways you can easily add flavor to every day pancakes.

    Add Flavor

  1. Step 1

Add chocolate. If you want something truly decadent, flavor your pancakes with chocolate. Semi-sweet chocolate chips would be perfect for an adult palate, but kids would prefer milk chocolate. For something completely different, try adding white chocolate chunks.

  2. Step 2

Sprinkle on a few berries. If you're health conscious, berries are definitely the way to go. You can add whatever berries you like, but blueberries and blackberries seem to work the best.

  3. Step 3

Don't forget the nuts. Toasted nuts add wonderful flavor and nutrition. Nuts also work well with other flavors. For example, you could combine blackberries and almonds in your pancakes. Another great option would be toasted pecans and semi-sweet chocolate chips.

  4. Step 4

Make them sweet and savory. A completely different way to flavor your pancakes is to add breakfast meat. For example, sprinkle in some cooked, chopped bacon. Once you add maple syrup, the combination of flavors will be absolutely wonderful.

  5. Step 5

Stir in some sweet potatoes or pumpkin. This is a great way to flavor your pancakes on Thanksgiving morning. Your guests will absolutely love biting into these seasonal pancakes. For additional festive flavor, add dried cranberries that have been reconstituted.
