Graphic design and image editing technologies have advanced much over the past several years. Now users have the options of using many different programs to edit and manipulate their images with. Paint Shop Pro Photo XI is one of the most commonly used image editing programs. These steps will show you how to copy and paste an image as a layer in Paint Shop Pro Photo XI.

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer
  • Paint Shop Pro Photo XI
  1. Step 1

    Open the image file in Paint Shop Pro Photo XI. Open up the application and make sure to open up the images that you wish to work with. You will need one primary image and a secondary image that you wish to import into the primary image as a layer.

  2. Step 2

    Use hot keys to select the entire image that you wish to convert. Left-click on the image that you desire to convert into an additional layer. Using the hot keys is the easiest way to select this image. Simply click, “Ctrl + A” and you will select the entire image. Then click “Ctrl + C” and you will copy this image to the clip board.

  3. Step 3

    Select the image that you desire to add a layer to. Now left-click on the primary image that you wish to copy and paste the layer into; this will select that image in PSP.

  4. Step 4

    Use the hot keys or drop-down menu to add the layer. The fastest way to add the image as a layer is by using the hot keys. Click on “Ctrl + L”, which will convert the copied image into a current layer and paste it into the primary image. You can also select the “File” tab and then select “Paste As,” making sure you paste it "As a New Layer."

Tips & Warnings
  • Get used to using the “hot keys” they will make editing photos much easier.
  • Make sure that you save an extra copy of the image in case you make a mistake.
