When you pay, or take time out of your day, to get a manicure, you want to make it last. Nothing in the world of beauty is more annoying then having a chip one day into a fresh manicure.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

While getting your manicure talk to your nail technician. Ask her/him to put on an extra coat of both the base color and the clear top coat.

  2. Step 2

Let your manicure dry completely. Don't trust that drying spray in a can either. I know you're busy, but take the time to dry properly before you fish your keys out of your purse or start typing again.

  3. Step 3

After 24 hours add an additional clear coat of polish to you manicure. This will help to keep it protected from minor wear and tear.

  4. Step 4

Be aware of your hands. If you have to do something that is likely to wreck your nails, put something on your hands (like gloves) or between your hands and the damaging substance (like a paper towel or piece of cloth).

  5. Step 5

After three days check your manicure again, If they have lost the shine of the top coat, then reapply a top coat to keep your nails protected.

Tips & Warnings
  • The more detailed your nails are the more likely you will have a hard time keeping it perfect.
  • If you can, get a bottle of the same shade of polish to fill in chips when they occur.
  • Exposure to bleach will speed up the decline of your nails.
