Things You'll Need:
- Sack lunch
- Dinner leftovers
- Budgeted money for lunch
- Co-workers willing to split lunch cost with you
-
Step 1
Pack your lunchPack a lunch to take with you when you are heading to work. Beforehand, purchase items to make sandwiches and buy snack cup foods such as puddings or Jell-o. If your place of employment has a microwave, buy low cost microwave meals such as Healthy Choice or Weight Watchers. Make extra food during supper-time at home, and set aside a portion for your next day's lunch.
-
Step 2
Buy a pizza with your co-workersTalk with other co-workers and see if they would like to pool their money for a large food item order such as a pizza or sub sandwiches. Split the cost among everybody. This gives you time to relax and relieve some stress with your co-workers.
-
Step 3
Plan a potluck at workPlan a potluck with other co-workers at work. Have everybody volunteer to bring one item to share. Plan to have a potluck on certain days of the week, such as Fridays.
-
Step 4
Track your spending to see how much you spend on lunchAnalyze your budget at home. Allow only so much money to be spent on lunch each week. By putting yourself on a lunch budget, you will find a way to stretch your money and won't be tempted to spend it all in one place.
-
Step 5
Save on money by eating at home.Head home for lunch if you work nearby. Going home will allow you to have a change of atmosphere and will cost you less than eating out. To save on gas, walk or ride your bike home so that you won't spend so much on fuel going back and forth. This will also give you a chance for fresh air and some quick exercise, too.
