In this magic trick, you will wave your magic wand, say the magic words or perform any trademark magic technique over a whole banana. When you hand the banana to an audience member to peel, they will find that it is already sliced inside. This trick is actually quite easy, all it takes is a little advance preparation.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Banana
  • Straight pin
  1. Step 1

Choose a perfectly ripe banana for your magic trick. Decide where you want it cut. You can slice it as many times as you want.

  2. Step 2

For the first cut, push the pin all the way into the banana, but not out the other side. Carefully move the pin from side to side, slicing through the banana. Make sure to get the parts near the hole, too. Try to keep the top of the pin as still as possible, though, because the pin hole can leave a visible mark, so the smaller the hole is, the better.

  3. Step 3

Repeat for each slice, but don't start on the same side of the banana. Since the pin hole can be visible, your banana magic trick will be more convincing if your audience doesn't see a line of holes down one side of the banana. If the holes are distributed around the banana, they will be less conspicuous.

  4. Step 4

Perform your trick as soon as possible. The longer you wait, the browner and more visible the pin holes will become.

  5. Step 5

Explain to the audience that you are going to magically slice a banana inside its peel. Do something dramatic, like waving a magic wand or pronouncing magic words.

  6. Step 6

Hand the banana to an audience member and ask them to peel it. They will find that it really is sliced inside the peel.

Tips & Warnings
  • Try practicing this trick before you intend to perform it. Check to make sure that your slices go all the way through the banana, so that you can adjust your technique if necessary.
  • Move the pin only in a side to side motion. If you move it up and down or around, you will just end up with a banana that is mushy or sliced in a bizarre way.
