How to Install Pull Latches

Pull latches are one of those items that are found in a lot of different consumer goods. From footlockers to Presidential Briefcases, these little guys are as versatile as the need for them is. Learning the different uses for them allows the homeowner, or craftsman to use their imagination while creating something that needs pull latches. The most common place the pull latch is used is on doors.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Pull latch
  • Screw driver
  1. Step 1

    Remove the old latch from the door with a screw driver by removing the screws from the edge of the door frame that hold the latch in the door.

  2. Step 2

    Remove the screws from the inside plate next to the handle and separate the front from the back. Clean the area around the hole in the door.

  3. Step 3

    Insert the latch into the edge of the door and tighten the screws down snug.

  4. Step 4

    Locate the outside of the latch and hold it in place. Position the screws through the inside of the latch and thread them into the screw holes in the outside latch.

  5. Step 5

    Tighten all screws and set the striker plate so the door closes properly.

Tips & Warnings
  • Think of this task as a puzzle being put together.
  • Don’t over tighten the screws as this will cause damage to the parts.
