Things You'll Need:
- White Cloth
- Water
- Clothes Iron
- Polymerized Tung Oil
- Wood Stain
- Paint Brush

Step 1
Rub polymerized tung oil into the scratch. You can use a brush or cloth for this. A wood stain which matches the color of the wood would also work.

Let the oil sit for several minutes so it can soak in.

Rub excess oil off with a dry cloth.

Don't allow anyone to walk on the spot for at least 24 hours.

Use a pin to poke several holes in the bottom of the gouge.

Wet just enough of a clean, white rag to cover the gouge.

Place the wet portion inside the gouge.

Step 4
Briefly hold the tip of a hot clothes iron against the cloth.

If the cloth doesn't pop up, wet the cloth again and repeat.

Use polymerized tung oil or wood stain to disguise any remaining damage.
