    How to Keep Preschool Children Busy at Home

  1. Step 1

    Think about all the various things that can be done at home with preschool children. Although there are many activities that keep preschool children busy, consider the ones that will keep the children busy longer so that you are not switching projects so often.

  2. Step 2

    Painting is probably the most fun activity that preschool children love to do. Place a plastic table cloth over you table and load it up with paints, brushes, and things to paint.

  3. Step 3

    Playdough is another creative activity that preschool children love to get their hands into. They will be busy for hours. They can shape their creations into whatever their minds think of. It's an absolute favorite of preschool children. You can use objects from around the house or from the kitchen to allow them to shape their creations.

  4. Step 4

    Cleaning can even be a game for preschool children. Find little jobs that they can help you with. They love to be busy with mom or dad. So they will take pride in what they do and at the same time your preschool children will learn to be a helper around the house.

  5. Step 5

    Gather up all your vehicles, dolls, car tracks and dollhouses and start setting up a city. Your children will be busy playing in their own pretend world.

  6. Step 6

    Puzzles and books are great objects of learning, as well as keeping your preschool children busy. Although this activity may or may not keep your preschool children busy for long. It depends on their individual interest in puzzles and books.

  7. Step 7

    Playing a musical instrument, whether it's piano, drums or a harmonica, will occupy your preschool children for quite some time. Most preschool children love music and will be busy creating their own for hours.

  8. Step 8

    When you run out of ideas for the day, but need them to be busy for a little longer, you can always turn a video on for a short time.

  • Peak in on what your preschool children are doing. If they are quite don’t bother them. This will keep them busier longer.
  • Ask your preschool child what he or she would like to do for the day.
  • Avoid using the television to keep preschool children busy.
  • Always keep a watchful eye on what your preschool children are doing.
