But after a while, the overuse may become apparent to the naked eye when dark stains start to appear on the inside of the cup. The first step, if you don't already have some in the house, is to go to the grocery store and buy some sort of antibacterial bleach cleanser. If it's a foaming cleanser, this is even better, and you should look for the brand "Soft Scrub" or similar for the product.

Once you have your cleanser, rinse the mug with water and pour the cleanser in. Using your white rag (it's important for it to be white because the bleach will bleed the color from any rag that is not white), rub the foamy film over the entire surface of the inside of the mug.

Once the inside of the mug is completely covered, allow it to sit for 5 to 10 minutes. Rinse the rag and then use it to scrub the inside of the mug. Rinse mug with water.

Repeat as necessary until the mug is clean.
