How to Remove Glitter Nail Polish

How to Remove Glitter Nail Polishthumbnail
Glitter nail polish is fun to wear but can be difficult to remove completely

Glitter nail polish can be particularly hard to remove because the grains of glitter adhere to fingernails more firmly than regular nail polish. You must use special care when removing this type of polish or you can scrape the nails as you rub off the glitter.

    Things You'll Need

    • Nail polish remover
    • Large cotton balls
      • 1
Cotton balls work best for removing glitter polish because they cling to the grains of glitter better than smooth makeup pads

Place a cotton ball firmly on top of the open bottle of nail polish remover. You can set the lid aside. Make sure that the cotton ball fully covers the opening of the bottle. If it does not, then use two cotton balls.

      • 2

Upend the bottle of nail polish remover while holding the cotton ball in place. This will soak the cotton balls with nail polish remover.

      • 3

Press the cotton ball on a fingernail for a count of 20. Count slowly and steadily. Do not move the cotton ball at all while you are pressing on it.

      • 4

Slowly pull the cotton ball off the edge of the fingernail. Most if not all of the glitter polish should adhere to the cotton ball. If there is any left, wipe gently but firmly again.

Repeat this process with a new cotton ball for each finger. You will use somewhere between 10 and 20 cotton balls, depending on their size.

The key is to let it sit for 20 - 30 seconds or longer before wiping of firmly but gently. Thanks Carole V.! Worked like a charm!
