Having a second story bathroom is quite convenient. If you have water pressure problems, however, a second-story bathroom can become quite a headache. As most people who have a second-story bathroom know, there's nothing worse than trying to wash your hands under a trickle of water. In order to solve the mystery of low water pressure, there are several things to take into consideration.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Water pressure meter
  • Booster pump
  1. Step 1

Examine your sink, specifically the aerators on the faucet. Mineral deposits may be causing a blockage--contributing to low water pressure.

  2. Step 2

Remove the flow restrictor on your shower-head to achieve a "normal" shower.

  3. Step 3

Use a water pressure meter to determine how low your water pressure is. Then, adjust your water pressure regulator (usually located in the basement) until the water meter registers at an acceptable level.

  4. Step 4

Consider installing a booster pump on your lines. Rather than re-plumbing your home, which can be quite costly, a booster pump is a cheaper and less labor intensive solution.
