Crimped hair has many tight, almost spiral waves. Crimping hair gives you the temporary appearance of having a perm, but crimping comes out at the first wetting or shower. Many people use crimping irons to achieve this look, but crimping irons can overheat, dry out and damage you hair. In this article we will discuss how to crimp hair with braids.

How to Crimp Hair With Braids

  1. Step 1

Wet hair thoroughly with the spray bottle. The crimping will occur as the braids dry, so your hair should be thoroughly damp, but not sodden.

  2. Step 2

Brush tangles out of your hair. For this hairstyle to work, you must have tangle-free hair.

  3. Step 3

Make a small braid near your face. The braid should extend as near to the ends of the hair as possible and it should not be any bigger around than your little finger.

  4. Step 4

Rubber band the braid with an "ouchless" rubber band. Place the rubber band as near to the end of the braid as possible without allowing hair to fall out.

Repeat steps 3 and 4 until you have encircled your entire head with braids. All of your hair should be in small braids when you are done.

  6. Step 6

Let the braids dry. You can use a blow dryer or let them dry overnight while you sleep. The hair must be completely dry before you remove the braids or this hairstyle will not hold.

  7. Step 7
Do not brush your hair after crimping or it will become frizzy

Remove the braids. You will have a full head of finely crimped hair. You can finger-style it or just leave it as it came out of the braids.
