So beautiful, yet so allergenic.
So beautiful, yet so allergenic.

Allergies are very uncomfortable and can really slow you down if you let them. While you may not be able to completely get rid of seasonal allergies, here are a few ideas on how to live in peace with them.

From Quick Guide: Allergy Season
Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Stay away from things that cause allergies if you can help it. While you can't always pinpoint what's causing the problem, there are some no-brainers: pets, certain types of flowers, fresh-mown grass. Try to identify what may be causing your allergies and to eliminate or lessen the antagonists.

  2. Step 2

Try some of the over-the-counter allergy medications with an antihistamine like diphenhydramine (best to take at night) or a nondrowsy formula with loratadine as its effective ingredient. If these don't work well, a doctor can prescribe medication suitable for your lifestyle and health needs to better treat your allergies.

  3. Step 3

Consider a natural supplement. Some natural supplements have been used to treat allergies and cold symptoms for hundreds of years and still work today. Ephedra, stinging nettle, echinacea and garlic have all been used for many years to combat allergies.

Tips & Warnings
  • Always let your doctor know about any over-the-counter medications you're taking.
  • You should consult with your doctor before beginning any supplemental regimen (especially ephedra), and if you do plan to start a natural regimen, make sure you follow dosage requirements.
