How to Braid Beads into Hair

A braid full of beads is a fun and exciting way to dress up for a beach party or just to remind yourself that summer is on the way. This hairstyle can be a fun thing to do at girls' spend-the-night parties or a way to make yourself stand out on a girls' night out.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

• Bead hook
• Small "ouchless" rubber hair bands
• Hair brush
• Spray bottle of water

1. Brush your hair thoroughly. This hairstyle works best if your hair is tangle-free. However, many people feel it is slightly easier to do if you have not washed your hair the day that you are planning on wearing the braids.

2. Mist your hair with the spray bottle. Do not soak your hair or the strands will become slippery and not hold the braids.

3. Pull a section of hair near your face forward. Make sure that there are no tangles in this section. It should be about the width of your thumb.

4. Braid the top part of the hair. When you have a braid about an inch long, use your thumb and your second and middle fingers to hold the braid in place

5. Thread a bead onto the bead hook with your other hand. Simply push the bead over the pointed end of the hook.

   As you can see, when the hair pulls through the loop it will "catch" the beads.

   Thread one of the strands of the braid through the loop at the end of the bead hook. You will need to keep pinching the other two strands so that the braid does not unravel.

   Some toy stores also carry hair beading "machines" that are basically bead hooks with a lever

   Pull the bead hook downward until the hair slips out of the loop. This will leave the bead on the braid.

8. Continue braiding. You can add more beads as you go or just stick with the single accent bead.

9. Rubber band the braid. When you have reached the end of the braid, secure it with a small, "ouchless" rubber band.
