English Leather Saddles are easy to clean if done properly. Coupled with regularly performed maintainance, cleaning your English Leather Saddle can be beneficial to extending life of the saddle itself.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Leather or saddle soap
  • Clean cloths
  • A bucket
  • Olive oil
  • Warm water
  1. Step 1

Survey an area to support your English Leather Saddle while you are washing it. Make sure that the area will hold the saddle in place as much as possible as well. A saw horse will suffice for this job if available.

  2. Step 2

Gather all the equipment to clean with after putting your saddle in place. You will want to make sure that you have everything you prefer to do it as you wish. These supplies can be purchased at animal stores and some specialty stores.

  3. Step 3

Put warm water into the bucket and use one of the cloths to submerge into the water. Pull the cloth back out of the water and gently squeeze the excess water from it.

  4. Step 4

Rub some soap onto on side of the wet cloth. Using the side of the cloth that you put the soap onto, apply some of the soap to the saddle. Make sure you apply soap on the saddle to all leather areas on each surface (even the underside). Put more soap on the cloth or towel to put on the saddle as desired.

  5. Step 5

Get a new cloth or towel and dip that in your clean warm water. Use the new cloth to clean the soap off your English Leather Saddle as previously applied. Be sure that you remove all the saddle soap keep alternating between dipping the cloth into the water and wiping the saddle down to remove all sight of the soap and feel of it.

  6. Step 6

Allow the English Leather Saddle time to dry. This may take an hour or so depending on how big and how wet it is. You may also apply olive oil to the saddle after it has dried. Be careful to not apply the olive oil too often or in excess as this result in a slippery and oily surface.
