Things You'll Need:
- iPhone
- USB 2.0 cable
-
Step 1
Download iTunes, if you haven’t done so already. If for nothing else, you’ll need it to activate your iPhone. Remember that when it comes to the iPhone, besides the device itself, iTunes is your best friend. Most of the syncing functions that iPhone is designed for will work automatically--even if you’re using a PC.
-
Step 2
Plug your USB 2.0 cable (included in the iPhone box) into your computer and charge/sync cradle (also in the box). Place the iPhone in the cradle. iTunes should start automatically and recognize your iPhone.
-
Step 3
Click on the iPhone logo in the left margin of iTunes (if you have not already set up your iPhone, you’ll need to do this before anything else). You’ll be taken to a screen that gives you an overview of your phone and has several tabs along the top of the window, among them, "Contacts."
-
Step 4
Click on the "Contacts" tab and select which contacts you want synced with your iPhone. You will need to choose which program you want your contacts synced from. Mac users will want to use Address Book or "Entourage. PC users should use Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Express.
-
Step 5
Click the "Sync" button at the bottom of the "Contacts" pane. Your sync status will be visible in the top middle of the window. Do not remove your iPhone from the cradle the sync is complete.
-
Step 6
Eject your iPhone by clicking on the "Eject" button next to your iPhone’s logo in the left margin. Do not remove your iPhone from the dock without first ejecting it. Failure to proper eject the device could lead to data loss.
-
Step 7
Check your contacts on your iPhone. Your new downloaded contacts should be there.
