Heading off on a trip with the kids can be fun, but also frustrating if you find yourself on the plane without needed supplies. Read on to learn what to pack when you are planning a plane trip with the kids.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Snacks
  • Diaper supplies (if necessary)
  • Clean clothes for the child
  • Clean clothes for you
  • Toys
  • Crayons
  • Paper
  • Books
  • DVD player
  • DVDs
  1. Step 1

if you have a child still in diapers, pack the diaper bag completely full of supplies. Double the number of diapers you think you'll need and triple the amount of wipes. You never know when delays will occur, and it's best to have too much (rather than not enough) of these basics. Cabin pressure also causes intestinal distress in some babies, so make sure the wipes carrier is as full as you can get it. Also pack extra formula (if you use it) and extra bottles.

  2. Step 2

Put a change of clothes for both you and your child in the bag. Spills, upset tummies and cramped bathrooms can all lead to unpleasantness. It's no good having clothes only for your child if she's just thrown up all over you; make sure you've got a fresh set, too.

  3. Step 3

Throw in some toys and crayons. Make sure the toys are easily found and don't roll or have wheels, as they always seem to escape when you least want them to. Barbies, Polly Pockets, blocks and the like are your best bet. Make sure you have a pad of paper or plenty of loose sheets so that your child can color to her heart's delight.

  4. Step 4

Bring on the reading. Your older children will enjoy some quiet time reading a favorite book, so toss a few in. But remember that books can be heavy, so save your back by planning to get more once you arrive.

  5. Step 5

Pack snacks. Nowadays, few flights provide food, and if they do, it's often not appealing to your kids. So plan ahead and provide snacks that you know will keep your kids' stomachs full until you arrive at your destination. Apples, granola bars, trail mix and baby carrots all travel well.

  6. Step 6

Make sure you've got a DVD player and a selection of DVDs. As the hours drag on and you discover the in-flight movie is geared to an older age group, distract the children with their own selection of movies to enjoy.
