How to Retouch Blemishes In Photoshop

Sometimes even the best photographers want to alter something in an otherwise perfect picture. Fortunately, there are a number of computer programs available that make this a quick and painless process. One of the most common is Adobe Photoshop, and this tutorial will focus on how to remove facial blemishes or pimples.

Instructions

1. Open Photoshop. Go to "File" and then click on "Open." A new window will appear. Browse through your computer's hard drive until you find the photo that you wish to work with. Select it, and click on "Open." The photo should now appear in Photoshop.

2. Look at the area we want to retouch. Now click and select the "Eyedropper" tool on the edit panel.

3. Click an area of skin near the affected area. You should not click on the blemish or pimple itself, but relatively close to it, so that you get the natural skin tone for that area of the face. A color should now pop up into the edit window.

4. Select the paintbrush tool. Then lower the occupancy levels to around 30 to 50 percent. Then, slowly paint over the affected area until it disappears. The area should now look better, but it may still look a little unatural. If so, continue to Step 5.

5. Select the smudge tool. Set the strength ratio to 40 to 60 percent. Lightly smudge the affected area until it looks smooth and natural.
