How to Make Fake Frost On Windows

Need a little winter magic to make your holidays brighter? This great little trick will make your house look like Jack Frost just visited! Follow the instructions below and you will have frosted windows within an hour.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 4 tbsp. Epsom salt
  • 1 cup beer (any brand)
  • Mixing bowl
  • Terry cloth rag
  • Paint brush
  • Food coloring (optional)
  1. Step 1

    In a mixing bowl, dissolve Epsom salt and food coloring (if desired) in beer. Let stand for 30 minutes to an hour.

  2. Step 2

    Clean window thoroughly.

  3. Step 3

    Paint mixture on window with paint brush. Go back over window with terry cloth rag in a stippling manner. Let dry for several hours.

  4. Step 4

    Reapply mixture if necessary.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use this process any time during the year on windows where you want privacy.
  • Add food coloring to the mix for an artsy flair.
  • To clean frost from window, simply spray window with window cleaner and wipe clean.
  • Wipe up all spills immediately, as salt and beer mixture can be hard to clean off of some surfaces.
