How to Visit Shedd Aquarium
Under the sea and across the ocean is where you'd see most of these watery wonders. However, rather than travel miles deep and to foreign coasts, you can see strange creatures from down below by going to the Windy City's Shedd Aquarium.

Go to the aquarium's website (see Resources). It has tons of information regarding the aquarium with details on hours, exhibits and even a layout and map of the aquarium. It will help answer many questions that may pop up on your travel.

Choose what you want to see. The aquarium has regular exhibits plus numerous special exhibits running at any given time. By choosing what you want to see, you can eliminate a lot of wasted time deciding on the spot or roving around looking for items of interest.

Park at Museum Campus. The aquarium has its own parking however, the Museum Campus is close and offers a much larger lot and ease to get to. Typical prices to park will range from $15 to $20 dollars.

Obtain map of aquarium. The Shedd Aquarium is very big with a cafeteria, balcony, above ground pool area and many other special locations within its walls. Getting a map both online and as soon as you arrive will be instrumental to making your trip easier than stumbling around and wandering.

Wear comfortable clothing and shoes. A trip to the Shedd Aquarium can fill an entire day so you'll want to be in shoes and clothes that give you to most comfort possible. High heels and hard shoes won't cut it but will cut your great trip short. Gym shoes are a great idea.

Minimize what you're carrying. Taking a camera is a good idea but try and keep your carry-around to a minimum. Given that walking around the aquarium can take hours, you won't want to carry around pounds and pounds of additional weight.

Mind your group. Given the size of the aquarium, it is too easy to lose children or any elderly and disabled individuals with you. Make sure little ones are watched and that all adults have a map. Everyone should know a checkpoint in case they get lost, as well as be aware of the numerous staff that can help.
