The Green Goliath, otherwise known as the Incredible Hulk, is a staple in the Marvel Universe. A popular character among comic book fans, the Hulk has seen many adventures, changed colors several times and behaved in a variety of ways over the years. Keeping track of the Hulk's activities can be hard, especially if you've been away from comics for a while. But one of the nice things about comic books is that it is fairly easy to jump back in and catch up on what a stalwart like the Hulk has been up to.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Familiarize yourself with the Hulk of the past. Old story lines are frequently referenced in current comics, so you should have a basic knowledge of what the Hulk has already been through in order to understand the significance of what is happening to him now. The Hulk has been known to change colors, levels of intelligence and strength, and even the planet on which he resides!

  2. Step 2

Frequent your local comic book shop. This is the most straightforward way to catch up on the Hulk's exploits. Notice which titles Hulk is currently in. In addition to his main, ongoing series, her periodically appears in other titles and mini-series, like the recent "World War Hulk," which spans numerous Marvel titles. Talk to the store employeesand custiomers, who should be able to tell you what the Hulk has been up to in your absence.

  3. Step 3

Check out the online community. Message boards, blogs and website articles can be a siginificant help in figuring out what has been going on in Hulk comics. Watch out for spoilers, though!

  4. Step 4

Read other Marvel titles. Hulk is very much embedded in the Marvel universe, so fully understanding the storylines in his books depends on knowing what is happening to the other heroes. It's a good idea to read other main titles (such as The Avengers and Spider-Man) to fully perceive Hulk's role is in the grander scheme.

Tips & Warnings
  • Marvel also has an "Ultimate" series which features the Hulk. This is not the traditional Hulk created by Stan Lee, but an alternate, more modern reimagining. So don't get confused by the seemingly conflicting storylines.
  • For the reader who has been out of the comics loop for awhile, trade paper backs can be a great help. They are paperback compliations that bring together five to 12 issues as one graphic novel.
