Different diaper folds work in different ways. A three-fold diaper is great at night because they are triple folded for more absorption. The bikini twist, double fold and the triangle fold are all different ways to double or triple the diaper where needed for more absorption. Different diaper sizes may help decide which diaper fold one can use to diaper a baby.

    How to Fold a Diaper

  1. Step 1

Lay the cloth diaper out flat. Fold the left side and the right side in so that they meet in the middle. Now it is a two-ply diaper. To put on a baby, unfold the back layers of the diaper so the diaper fits around the baby.

  2. Step 2

Lay the cloth diaper flat and fold the left side in a third of the way, then bring the right side in a third of the way so that the right side overlaps the left side. This is now a three-ply diaper. To put on a baby, unfold the back layers of the diaper so the diaper fits around the baby.

  3. Step 3

Lay a flat cloth diaper out flat and bring the left side in to the middle. Do the same with the right side. Then twist the diaper in the middle making what some call a bikini fold. The twist is between the legs of the baby and is now thicker. To put on a baby, unfold the back layers of the diaper so the diaper fits around the baby.

  4. Step 4

Lay the flat cloth diaper out, take one corner, and bring it across to the opposite corner. This will make a triangle. This type of diaper fold is placed on the baby with the point of the triangle in the front.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use some snapies to secure the diaper instead of pins.
  • Pre-fold diapers so they are ready when needed.
  • Rinse diapers out and unfold before washing.
