Have you ever had a shoulder-ache due to the weight of your purse? How much of that weight is necessary to carry around with you day after day? Follow these steps to packing a purse in an organized way and eliminate all of the excess cargo that you usually have to dig through.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Wallet
  • Travel size makeup bag
  1. Step 1

Empty all contents. Find a nice big area on the table, bed or floor and take everything out of your purse. Start three piles for organizational purpuses. Pile #1 should be the TOSS pile, pile #2 should be KEEP, and pile #3 should be PURSE pile.

  2. Step 2

Sort Pile #1. Throw away empty wrappers, old grocery lists, broken lipsticks and anything else that is not of use. If you keep receipts for tax purposes, those do not need to be stored in the bottom of your purse. File them immediately. If there is no need to keep receipts, toss them.

  3. Step 3

Sort Pile #2. The keep pile does not mean that you are keeping it to put back into your purse. The keep pile should be for items that need to go elsewhere. Perhaps you have an enormous amount of loose change in your purse. Do you realize how heavy loose change can be? Only keep a dollar or two of loose change in your wallet and save the rest in your piggy bank. If you find appointment cards, display them in a place that you see often, such as a refrigerator or on your desk. If you have gift cards or store savings cards, keep them in your wallet.

  4. Step 4

Sort Pile #3. Your newly organized purse should contain the following: wallet, small bag for health and beauty products, check book and pen, small notepad and cell phone.

  5. Step 5

Pack your purse. Most purses have a side zipper pocket and a cell phone pouch. Your cell phone goes inside the pouch, not at the bottom of your purse. Your keys and a bottle of hand sanitizer and be safely zipped in the pocket and easily accessible at a moment's notice. If your purse is big enough, pack a travel size makeup bag with lipstick, lotion and the most used health and beauty items. If your purse is not big enough to accommodate your makeup bag, store it in your desk drawer or vehicle.

Tips & Warnings
  • Empty out your purse on a weekly basis.
  • Get into the habit of not "stuffing" things into your purse.
  • At the end of each day, empty your wallet of excess change to avoid unnecessary weight.
