Apple Crumble is a great dish for holidays and it is simple to make. Also there is no crust with an Apple Crumble, so it takes less time to put together and less time to cook as well.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 6 to 8 Apples- Granny Smith Apples are great for this recipe
  • 1 Lemon
  • 4 Tablespoons of Sugar
  • 2 Teaspoon of Cinnamon
  • 1/4 Cup of Chopped Walnuts
  • 1/3 Cup Flour
  • 3 Tablespoons Butter
  • 1/2 Cup of Oats- rolled Oats are better though
  • Pie Pan Dish- 9 Inches
  • 2 Mixing Bowl
  • Cutting Board
  • Knife
  • Spoon
  • Tin Foil

    How to Make Apple Crumble

  1. Step 1

Preheat the oven to 180 degrees.

  2. Step 2

Take the apples after washing them, core out the middle and throw away the seeds. Cut the apples in the wedges, about 1/2 inch or less. Place the apples in a bowl.

  3. Step 3

Juice the lemon over the apple pieces. This will keep the apples fresher longer and keep the apples from turning brown.

  4. Step 4

In the bowl with the apples, add 2 Tablespoons of the sugar, 1 Teaspoon of cinnamon and the walnuts. Mix these all together and put to the side.

  5. Step 5

In another mixing bowl, mix the flour, the other 2 Tablespoons of sugar, 2 teaspoons of cinnamon together and mix well with a spoon.

  6. Step 6

Cut the pieces of butter in to small chucks and add to the flour mixture one at a time. After each piece of butter is added to the mixture, use your fingers to mix the flour mixture and butter together. This will make the crumble like texture for the crumble.

  7. Step 7

After all the butter and flour mixture is mixed together, add the rolled oats to the mixture. Mix well with a spoon.

  8. Step 8

Take the pan and coat with cooking spray or butter, which ever you prefer. Add the apple mixture into the pan. Make sure the apple mixture is level as you can make it.

  9. Step 9

Pour the crumble mixture on top of the apples and cover the entire mixture with the crumble. Even to the edges, if this is not covering well use your fingers to press the crumble mixture into the edges better.

  10. Step 10

Cover the dish with tin foil and place in preheated oven for 30 minutes.

  11. Step 11

Once the time is over, check the apple crumble and make sure that there is a bit of the apple mixture bubbling over slightly. This is a quick and easy way to tell the crumble is done.

  12. Step 12

Remove from the oven and allow the dish to cool for 15 minutes before serving.

Tips & Warnings
  • This dish is served great with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. This can be stored in the refrigerator for a week without any problems.
  • Always be careful when using knives. Also be careful with the dish once it comes from the oven, the contents will be hot.
