Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Stabilize your knee. Knee braces are available for motocross riders. Using a brace after a knee injury will help to stabilize the knee while riding motocross bikes, as well as when landing at the end of a ride.

  2. Step 2

Know how serious the injury is. Landing and crashes can cause knee injuries, such as a torn ACL. Once this has occurs, surgery may be the only option that will rehabilitate the knee and allow a rider to get back on a bike.

  3. Step 3

Exercise the knee. Several exercises can be done to strengthen the knee after an injury. Physical therapy is a helpful to do safe exercises that aid in the rehabilitation process.

  4. Step 4

Look into alternative methods. Although it is not commonly thought of as a way of rehabilitating a knee, electrical stimulation is a treatment that can be done in order to strengthen the knee after an injury.

  5. Step 5

Put an ice pack on the knee after the injury and after exercising the knee. This will help with the healing process as ice can control the swelling that occurs during rehabilitation.

  6. Step 6

Stretch. Stretching is one of the most important things you can do for your knee during rehabilitation. By gently and slowly stretching the knee, it can strengthen as it heals.

Tips & Warnings
  • When you aren’t exercising the knee, keep your leg elevated and rest your knee. Giving your knee a break will help with the rehabilitation process and get you back on your motocross bike quickly.
