1
Think about the person whom you are honoring with flowers and their family. Would they like a simply seasonal bouquet to decorate and bring cheer for the days ahead, or would the family appreciate a more long-term memorial like a plant?
-
2
Choose an appropriate arrangement. Some sources recommend that immediate family order crosses or religiously related memorial flowers or casket sprays. A relative can order wreaths, standing sprays or basket bouquets and friends should choose baskets, plants or arrangements.

3
Go to a floral website (see Resources). There are reputable companies with a lot to choose from for funeral arrangements.
-
4
Choose your arrangement at the price point you are comfortable with and click on the order button.
-
5
Input the information about where you want your flowers to be delivered. If there is a wake or visitation, you'll want to have them delivered to the funeral home. If the wake and church service are to be held at the church, have the flowers delivered directly to the church.
-
6
Add a ribbon or card. If you are a relative, you can add a ribbon recognizing your connection to the deceased. Otherwise send a card letting the family know of your support and love.
-
7
Confirm order and date of delivery and print out a copy for your files.

Tips & Warnings
Be sure to read the obituary carefully to make sure the family hasn't requested donations to charity in lieu of flowers. If so, be sure to make a donation in the amount you were planning to spend on flowers. Follow up with a small plant for your friend or family member later to help brighten their day.
Order from a local florist if you need immediate delivery.

The local florist will have all the info regarding the type of service, time and date of the service. Your best bet is to contact the funeral home and they will refer you to the florist that they use regularly. They know who does the best work. Also, it is totally appropriate for friends, family or co-workers to order standing sprays, wreaths, crosses, basket sprays, hearts, plants and vase arrangements. You would never want to order a casket spray without talking to the family or funeral home. They are expensive and are usually included in the price of the funeral package.
