Do you enjoy writing? Are you thinking of becoming a full-time writer? Maybe you just want to make a little extra money doing something that you love.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Know your strengths when it comes to writing. This includes the style of writing you excel at, as well as the specific content.
Step2
Create a writing resume. Include any writing experience, skills and degrees that you may have.
Step3
Write some sample pieces. Be consistent with the area of writing you have decided to pursue.
Step4
Search for writing jobs online. here are several websites that are dedicated to helping writers find jobs.
Step5
Visit sites like Craigslist to post a resume and/or advertisement of your writing services. Let people know what you have to offer. This is a fast, easy and quick way to get the word out.
Step6
Check revenue-sharing websites like Associated Content and eHow. Payments will be based on view counts, but the possibilities are endless.
Step7
Consider beat writing. If you have expertise in an area, there are plenty of websites that will pay you for your knowledge. About.com is an excellent website that pays its writers regularly as long as they follow certain requirements.
Step8
Maximize blogging potential. There are several different ways to make money writing about anything you want on your own blog. Check out Google Adsense and Clickbank. Both websites feature explanations of how they work and how you can use them.
Step9
Submit some pieces to some of your favorite magazines. Contact the magazines to find out what sort of pieces they are looking for, and according to what schedule.
Step10
Go the local newspapers. See if they are hiring writers or accepting new freelancers. If they give you an assignment, take them up on it and go for the gold.
Step11
Ask around. If you know anyone who can help you find a writing opportunity, ask him. Much writing work comes via word-of-mouth.

Tips & Warnings

  • Get a PayPal account if you are considering freelance writing. Most internet jobs will use PayPal, as it' is the fastest way to send and receive payments. Sign up for the debit card to spend the money from your PayPal account directly.
