Step 1
Click the Browse button in the Paint Shop Pro toolbar. This button looks like a file cabinet, and offers the fastest and most efficient way to browse your pictures. Select the image you would like to work with from your files.
-
Step 2
Select the Eye Dropper Tool in the main toolbar. In the image you have open, select the color you wish to replace with the right mouse button. Select the replacement color with the left mouse button.
-
Step 3
Select the Color Replacer Tool by clicking the black arrow next to the Eye Dropper Tool. The Color Replacer Tool should be directly below the Eye Dropper Tool.
-
Step 4
Make sure that the Tool Options are open in Paint Shop Pro by selecting View > Palettes > Tool Options from the main menu. Edit your options to suit your preference. Ensure that the tolerance is high enough to replace the color in the manner you desire. With higher tolerance, the Color Replacer Tool will replace more colors which are close to the color you selected.
-
Step 5
Double-click the color you wish to replace with the left mouse button. This will replace the entire area with the new color. The boundaries will depend on the tolerance you have set in the Tool Options.
-
Step 6
Drag the mouse across the area using the left mouse button to replace the color with brushstrokes rather than replacing the color completely. Select your brush shape, size, and opacity by altering the settings in the Tool Options Palette. The higher you set the Hardness, Step, Density and Thickness settings, the more solid and opaque your brushstroke will be.
-
Step 7
Save your brushstroke and tolerance settings by clicking on Presets and clicking the Save button. Give your Preset a name and click OK. This does not save your color selections. Those must be re-selected each time you use the Color Replacer Tool in Paint Shop Pro.
