Don't Let Craft Get Out of Hand!

Doing crafts with your kids during summer vacation is a great way to spend quality time. Crafts can get messy and hectic, though, if you don't plan ahead. Here are some tips to get you prepared for doing kid crafts this summer.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Newspaper
  • Plastic grocery sacks
  • Resealable baggies
  • Binder with plastic page protectors
  1. Step 1

Stockpile old newspapers. You can use them for papier mache, to protect table surfaces from paint and glue, and for soft sculptures.

  2. Step 2

The same goes for plastic shopping bags. These can be used as waterproof holders for gloppy things that need to be thrown away, as garbage sacks for scraps and impromptu plastic gloves.

  3. Step 3

Resealable baggies are a must for organizing craft supplies like buttons, crazy eyes and stickers. They are also great for storing paint brushes in so that they don't dry out before you clean them.

  4. Step 4

Use a binder with clear, plastic page protectors for organizing craft ideas torn from magazines and printed from the Internet. The plastic protectors will keep you instructions clean and protected from getting glued to the project.

Tips & Warnings
  • Cut a head hole and arm holes in garbage sacks for disposable, waterproof smocks.
  • Keep it simple. Only plan for one or two crafts in a day and clean up before starting a new project.
