Ayurvedic practitioners believe turmeric has medicinal properties. They say it has fluoride, which is healthy for your teeth, and in some Asian countries turmeric is used to treat stomach problems and other ailments. Mustard Turmeric Salad Dressing is a great alternative to conventional dressings. You can use it on a salad as simple as red-leaf lettuce with carrot shavings or a more elaborate salad and get the helpful qualities of turmeric. Here's how to make the dressing.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1/4 cup red wine vinegar
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 2-3 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons olive or vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • Whisk
  • Container for dressing
  1. Step 1

    Over medium heat, heat vinegar and turmeric two to three minutes, stirring continually.

  2. Step 2

    Let the vinegar and turmeric mixture cool.

  3. Step 3

    Whisk together vinegar with lemon juice, oil, mustard, garlic, salt, and pepper.

  4. Step 4

    Chill the vinaigrette until ready to use.
