Drawing a pear is quite easy. It is simply a curved hourglass shape with a stem. These steps show you how to add shape and dimension to the drawing as well.

    Step 1

Draw a curved hourglass shape, like the one shown in the example. This is a partial circle set on top of another partial circle.

    Step 2

Draw a stem by drawing a small triangle with a thick line extending from it. Add a leaf by drawing an oval and connecting it to the pear with a line. Add lines on the oval for veins on the leaf.

  3. Step 3
    Step 3
    Step 3

Add shading. Remember, the pear will be darkest farthest away from the light source. The light source in the example is coming from the upper right corner of the page.

  4. Step 4
    Step 4
    Step 4

Add a shadow that is coming from the opposite direction of the light source. Add texture (optional) and you are done. You can add texture by taking a woodless pencil and rubbing it on the paper, sideways.

Tips & Warnings
  • The shadow should be a distorted version of the pear shape.
  • Don't draw a pear too squat and round or it will look like an apple.
