We all know that being the interviewee can be difficult, but so can being the one conducting the interview. There are a few things to keep in mind in order to have a productive interview.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Make the questions clear. Use appropriate words and language that the interviewee will understand.

  2. Step 2

Direct the questioning. It is best if you transition the questions. This will make the interview flow and not feel so jumbled.

  3. Step 3

Only ask one question at a time. If you don't, the person might not answer all of the questions. Keep it simple.

  4. Step 4

Use follow up questions when needed. Something that an interviewee says can trigger more questions. It is perfectly acceptable to do this as it helps you get to know the person a little better.

  5. Step 5

Don't be confrontational. This is an interview and while you can ask for opinions, understand that everyone's viewpoints are going to be different.

  6. Step 6

Be straightforward when asking the questions. If you want to know certain information, just ask.
