How to Pray for an Hour
Praying is an important part of many faiths, particularly the Christian faith. Jesus prayed, and Christians who desire to become more like Him seek to establish a prayer life as well. More often than not this prayer life extends outside of regular church services. It can take place when you are at home or in the environment of your choosing. Praying for an hour may seem like a long time, but you will find that it is a lot easier than it sounds.

1
Set aside a special time of the day to pray, and try your best to stick to that time. Make sure that it is a time you will likely not be disturbed. This may require waking up an hour earlier, or setting aside a time that you will have to yourself during the day. Turn off your phone, and ask not to be disturbed.

2
Make a list of all the things and people you want to pray about. You can also go through the Bible and find scriptures that reference the things you are praying about. In your prayer time, go according to the list, praying in detail about each topic, and referencing what the Word of God has to say about the things going on in our lives.

Get a group of friends together. Praying in a group is also a great way to pray for an hour. Each person can submit prayer requests if desired. People can take turns praying for each of the requests submitted, or praying about whatever is on their hearts.

Use the “five finger” prayer template to help you develop a pattern when it comes to praying. Your thumb is nearest you, so begin your prayers by praying for those closest to you. The next finger is the pointing finger. Pray for those who teach, instruct and heal. This includes teachers, doctors, and ministers. The middle finger is the tallest finger. It reminds us of our leaders. Pray for the president, leaders in business and industry, and administrators. The fourth finger is our ring finger, our weakest finger. It should remind us to pray for those who are weak, in trouble or in pain. Our pinkie finger is our smallest and represents us. This is where we should place ourselves in relation to God and others.

Use The Lord’s Prayer as a guide. In the Holy Bible, this is how Jesus instructed his disciples to pray.
