Briefs and jockeys don't allow air to flow away from the testes, causing them to become warmer than necessary and resulting in a low sperm count. The same can be said for hot tubs, saunas, hot baths or anything else that introduces unnecessary heat below the belt.

  2. Stop drinking and smoking. Alcohol and even cigarettes severely affect sperm count. Men who drink often tend to produce higher levels of estrogen, and estrogen suppresses sperm. Large quantities of alcohol can also have a negative effect on sexual desire.

  3. Just say "NO." Marijuana, cocaine and other illegal substances actually destroy the fertilizing ability of sperm, and can hinder the production of new sperm. Often, illegal drugs can cause abnormal sperm shape or deformed sperm. Illegal substances, much like alcohol, can also cause a sharp decline in sexual desire.

  4. Take 1,000 milligrams of vitamin C every day. Vitamin C doesn't necessarily increase sperm count, but it greatly increases sperm motility and helps to protect existing sperm.

  5. Eat a diet high in zinc and folic acid. Zinc and folic acid help encourage new sperm production. Oysters are a good source of zinc, and eating them has been known to increase sexual desire. Red meat, poultry and beans are good sources of these essential nutrients; you can easily add them to your daily diet.

  6. Eat organically grown foods whenever possible. Some studies have shown that, occasionally, farmers of organically grown fruits and vegetables have unusually high sperm counts. This may suggest that a diet high in organic foods may significantly improve chances of conception.
