Airsoft is a sport that is rapidly sweeping the nation. Similar to paintball, it relies heavily on the use of an AEG, or "Automatic Electric Gun" -- a fully automatic replica weapon that fires plastic pellets at opponents in combat-like scenarios. As in real combat, these scenarios can differ greatly, and thus a number of "Game Types" appear. This article will cover the basics of setting up your chosen Airsoft "Game Type."

Playing Airsoft

Step1
Decide on what type of game you will be playing. As stated above, there are many to chose from, be it "Hostage Rescue," "Free for All," "Team Deathmatch," or "Behind Enemy Lines." If this is your first time playing or setting up a game, I would suggest playing either the "Free for All" or "Team Deathmatch" game types, as they are the easiest to set up and understand.
Step2
Divide up into even teams. (If you are playing a "Free for All" game, this is not necessary.)
Step3
Decide on how long the game will last. For greater numbers, the time limit on the game clock should be increased.
Step4
Decide on wait time. This term refers to the amount of time spent from getting into position to when the game actually begins.
Step5
Get into position and start counting down wait time. When it reaches zero, play begins.
Step6
Begin the game. Play is finished when all players on one side have been eliminated, the game clock runs out or the mission (In the case of "Hostage Rescue") is completed successfully. That's it! Have fun and enjoy the exciting sport of Airsoft!

Tips & Warnings

  • In any Airsoft game, safety goggles or a head masks are a necessity.
