Because of the lag time between concept and production, you'll often hear about the new hybrid cars months or even years before you are able to buy one.    Subscribe to an auto news blog or magazine and stay on top of the latest in the industry. MotorTrend offers in depth coverage of the major auto shows, allowing you to check out new hybrid cars by internet.

   Visit major car dealers in metropolitan areas, which are more likely to get the new hybrid cars first. Keep in touch with the manager and ask to preview and test drive the most recent hybrid vehicles he gets in stock.
