How to Understand Different Ways of Detecting Breast Cancer

If you're anything like me, breast cancer runs in your family, and you want to do anything you can to prevent it. Knowing all the different ways to detect is one more step in being able to prevent/treat it.
Breast Self-Examination is the most common, and most underestimated form of detection. It consists of you feeling your breasts on you own weekly/monthly. You should be feeling for any inconsistencies or anything that doesn't feel normal to you. At the bottom of this article I have a link to my other article - How to Conduct a Breast Self-Examination.
Step2
Another common detection method is a mammogram, which is an ex ray of the breasts. You can typically schedule an appointment with your gynecologist or doctor of choice. If you have found anything that troubles you in your self-examination, you should consider scheduling a mammogram. Women over 45 should get one done yearly.
Step3
Used in conjunction with a mammogram is Clinical Breast Examination. This is when an experienced doctor examines your breasts. Remember that this method of detection should be used in COMBINATION with mammography. Always rely on a mammogram over the other two types of examination however, because it is the ONLY truly legitimate way to determine whether you have breast cancer or not.
Tips & Warnings
Never substitute a self or clinical examination over a mammogram.
Check yourself often, become familiar with your breasts so you will recognize anything that does not belong.
Do not hesitate to go in for a mammogram if you suspect there is a problem.

I am a level 4 breast cancer patient and when I had first felt a lump in my breast, I went to my doctor who then sent me to get a mammogram. I do not for one second think that a mammogram is the best or most effective way to detect breast cancer. It certainly did not detect mine, the result were inconclusive, there is a lump in your breast we don't know if it is cancer. Like many other women that I have met, who are also suffering from cancer most of them have the same result with a mammogram. Nine out of ten times the result of a mammogram is inconclusive. There is a more effective type of mammogram, I think it is called a digital mammogram as opposed to the commonly used one the film mammogram. My experience with having a mammogram was not a good one due to the fact that my breast aren't large. There was barely enough to fit betweet the two metal plates, so just imagine what that must h
