Things You'll Need:
- A stuffed animal
- Bunco items you would normally have on hand, such as score sheets, pencils, and 3 dice for every player.
-
Step 1
You don't have to have 12 people to play bunco! Instead, you can play the game in groups of four. For example, if you only have 8 people, instead of twelve, just delete the middle table. Then you'll have a high table, and a low table.
-
Step 2
If you almost have groups of four, you can play with a ghost. Perhaps you have 7 players, or 11. Use the stuffed animal as the "ghost", and let it sit in the chair. The ghost's partner will roll for herself and for the ghost. But...if you need more than one ghost to fill out a table, keep reading...

Step 3
If you have a really odd number of players, such as 9, 13, or more, you can alternate players. We do this often in our neighborhood bunco group because we play with whoever can show up!
How it works: Say you have 10 players. You can only seat 8. So, play 10 rounds of bunco and let everyone take turns sitting out 1 round. The end result is that everyone played 9 rounds at some point. And it doesn't matter who goes to the low table or high table when you are rotating in and out of the games - all that matters is that everyone is together and having fun! -
Step 4
What to do if someone arrives late, or has to leave early? What if not everyone can play the same number of rounds as described in Step 3? In this case, let players take turns sitting out (it is a good time to refill your glass or plate...) and award prizes based on who won the biggest percentage of rounds. For example, Tracy won 5 out of 8 rounds (winning 62.5%), but Tita won 8 out of 10 games (winning 80%). Percentage wise, Tita had a better winning streak, so she has the most wins and gets the prize!
