This is a great homemade clay recipe that is ideal for children's art projects.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • 1 1/2 Cup Salt
  • 4 Cups Flour
  • 1 1/2 Cups Water
  • 1 tsp Alum
Step1
Mix dry ingredients
Step2
Gradually add the water, mixing the entire time.
Step3
Once a ball is formed, start kneading the dough just as you would bread dough.
Step4
Add a bit more water if the clay is too crumbly.

Tips & Warnings

  • This clay can be baked
  • The alum in this recipe works as a preservative for clay that is not going to be baked.
  • By adding 1/2 cup cooking oil and reducing the water used to 1 cup, you will create a soft dough clay which is non-hardening

on 8/19/2008 Thank you for the recipe! Alum is also good to keep kids from eating the clay :-) 5 *'s!
