As a matter of fact, God is offering you to become His friend. All you need to do is accept that offer and begin your relationship as a follower of Christ from that point forward.

The moment you accepted Christ's offer to become a Christian is the moment you become "born again". Human has body, soul, and spirit. The spirit is born again at that point. The Spirit of God indwells you at that moment. The Spirit of God will guide you in your relationship with Him.

Now, God is a triune being: God the Father, God the Son or Jesus Christ, and God the Spirit or Holy Spirit.

If you follow the Spirit of God, He will teaches you. You should also read the Bible or the Written Word of God. Jesus Christ is the manifestation of the Word of God. So, when you read the Bible, you are forming a relationship with Jesus.

on 10/31/2008 Thank you for writing this article. An extra note: Asking Christ to save you is essential because humans have done wrong. God wanted us to be His children, to love and be loved. But we rebelled against Him (which is sin) and have instead followed our own desires. This will lead to Hell. But God just kept on loving us, and He extended His love to us again, as a second chance to be with Him. Accepting this offering (salvation) leads to Heaven. God DOES NOT want to "send" you to Hell; He doesn't send you there anyway: we walk there ourselves. He wants you to be His child again.
